In the past we thought the future would be populated by people going to work in flying cars, housewives wearing spacesuits at home and families eating food made from moon dust. Sadly – apart from those glowing rectangles we spend our time starting at – that wasn't the case.

NASA's Jet Propulsion Lab is obviously a little peeved at this disappointing state of affairs. Hence it's commissioned a set of posters that promise a near-future of intergalactic space travel, holidays on oddly-named planets and good-looking people in, you guessed it, spacesuits. It looks an excellent place.

Sadly the chances of any of these journeys happening in our lifetime are zero, which means the nearest we're going to get holidaying on Venus is by flying to Marbella in a pair silver-foil pair of trunks, perhaps with a goldfish bowl on our head. On the plus side, the food's probably better, so it's not all bad.
