Adidas EQT racing: a retro running trainer for the summer

With daylight extending toward 9pm, and the sudden upsurge in bad weather, there's no doubt that the summer season is upon us. And with it comes a new raft of footwear from the big trainer manufacturers. Adidas, more than any brand, mines its unsurpassed back catalogue for possible reissues, and this year that range includes the EQT Racing from 1991.

While we'd have to disagree with Adidas's claims that this lightweight running shoe is 'iconic' (that tag is for the Stan Smiths and Gazelles of this world), we are rather fond of it, especially the 'open' tongue and  mesh/leather construction that marks it out. Ideal, we think, with a pair of rolled-up, slim-line jeans.

With the explosion in interest of 'old school' styles at the begining of the 1990s, much of Adidas' Torsion range was missed, so reissues like this go some way to fill in some of the gaps in our knowledge. And this time, we'll take more notice.
