Henri Lloyd and Ben Sherman Modern Classics open new stores
October 10, 2011 at 8:47London. What a town. One minute you're paying eight quid for a pint, the next some gimp from Kensington is running you over in the Audi TT his dad’s just bought him on a whim. On the plus side, though, there’s always a good clobber shop nearby, something that was proved again last week with the opening of a pop-up Henril Lloyd store and the new Ben Sherman Modern Classics shop on Portobello Road.
The Henri Lloyd shop will only be open for three months, but its stock of vintage HL and autumn-proof new styles should have you descending on Lamb’s Conduit Street in Holborn to stock up on everyone’s favourite sailing wear brand. With Oli Spencer nearby and Folk next door, plus the ace Lamb pub and Fryer’s Delight chippy at the end of the road, you can make a day of it.
The Ben Sherman shop is a permanent space, dedicated to Ben’s Albam-meets-mod Modern Classics range, with bits thrown in from the Plectrum collection too. Very much of the moment, when Umbrella went to the swish showbiz opening, we were impressed with the quality of the clobber on sale. The free Meantime Lager helped too.
Anyway, they’re both worth seeking out, so get your Oyster cards in gear and get spending.
